Starbucks Acquires 23.5 Degree Franchise in the UK

Big Announcement! Starbucks opened more stores in the UK to expand the coffee chain, Now it’s acquired 23.5 degree which is a big Starbucks Company. As of 2013, 23.5 Degree opened its first Starbucks stores in the UK, Now the total number of stores is 113, and 1650 employees, Most of the stores are drive-thru.

Starbucks acquires 23.5 degree UK to expand its store locations to 500, allowing it to attract more customers. This means that approximately 40% of Starbucks stores will operate through the company in the UK.

They fired their CEO Laxman Narasimhan after a tough time for Starbucks, just a few months into the job. This happened as the company’s worldwide sales dropped by 3%. A New CEO Brian Niccol, Who runs Chipotle is working to improve things at Starbucks 

According to Alex Rayner, general manager of Starbucks UK, Switzerland, and Austria: “ I want to acknowledge the important contributions of 23.5 Degrees and the dedicated green apron partners. This strategic move will enable us to enhance our investment in new locations, elevate our in-store experience, and drive innovation for our UK customers.

In May 2021, A 23.5 Degree Company got £17 million (around $24 million) to open more Starbucks stores in the UK, But a year later, it plans to open around 300 stores by 2027. In March 2024, Starbucks announced to opening of 100 store locations in the UK specially targeting drive-thrus and high football city center locations.

As I’ve mentioned in my recent blogs, Starbucks opened its first store in 1998 and now has more than 1200 stores in the UK. In March 2024, Starbucks reported that our Store sales had grown up to 22% in the UK, as compared to last year. By Oct 2023, Starbucks sales reached £547.7 which is about 693 million dollars.
